Often websites do not rank high on search engines because of many reasons. If you are not getting the expected results, then there are certain things that you can do on your end to achieve the best results. Here is a checklist of things that may help you.

1.     Get a report from Moz.org, which is a cost effective way of getting report.

2.     Check out the keyword phrases that you are targeting and define your scope. Do not be too broad or off topic.

3.     Check out the technical aspects. Index everything on Robots.txt, submit an XML to Google and ensure that there is no hidden content.

4.     The next step is to check errors. For that, check out the Google Webmaster Tools (WMT) and ensure that everything is fine. Sometimes a website has a manual penalty, or a pending notification, even a site can get hacked.

5.     Further, check any other errors and back links. For that open site explorer and check out your back links and competitors; and compare the back links.

6.     Content is the most important part of a website; therefore, check the content. Make sure that you have the direct matches for each keyword phrase. You should have direct matches for title tags, headlines, Meta descriptions, body content, and other areas.

It is crucial that your website should list in Google local. You should have local address on your website. To promote your website online set up social media accounts. Having an account on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, or Google+ will not only help you stay connected with your clients, but also offers you a platform to communicate with them
